Recently we have received a number of complaints and observations from customers about our invoice numbering system! Honestly, it is the very last thing I ever expected to get a complaint about!
Two complaints I vividly recall were a gentleman complaining that the invoice number of his subsequent purchase was lower than the first purchase and the other was from a lady who said her second invoice had exactly the same invoice number as her first purchase 4 weeks ago!
Ok, please let me explain. When I wrote the code for our new tyresales.co.nz site I endeavoured to formulate a random numbering system which would prevent stickybeaks from determining the sites success! Hence, the date of sale becomes the main determinate and the actual invoice number shown is purely random. The consequence of this is that anyone trying to gauge our sites success/sales volume is lead right up the garden path!
I am especially pleased I made this decision back in november 2012 as in recent weeks Tyresales has been been getting some false and often obscene orders. I am delighted to report that our regular customers have been placing orders as usual leaving these half witted clowns to wallow in their mire.
Tyresales and other online retailers of its ilk represent a revolution that is highly threatening to old style tyre retailers who can never match our price points; they can criticise and slag Tyresales as much as they like, but online retailing will continue to grow and grow.
