Consumer New Zealand has just conducted an exhaustive and impartial test program on new tyres and has awarded the Ovation Eco Vision VL682 the extremely high score of 82%. The only tyre above it, at 84%, is the Bridgestone Turanza ER300 which costs an incredible 123% more!
Their test car was a Holden Cruze CD which they tested on a closed racetrack. Wet and dry cornering and wet and dry braking distances were assessed. They also measured noise levels at 50 kph and 80 kph when driving on course chip seal. The Ovation tyres performance was exemplary in all categories and the testers commented that it “had no obvious bad points”.
The Ovation VL682 is an excellent example of the new wave of Chinese Tyres with production, construction, quality and design standards equal to anything made in the old world. So you ask, why does the Bridgestone tyre cost 123% more? The answer is simple, its price is inflated by huge corporate overheads and quite simply a marketing decision to capitalise on their brand names strength and sell their tyres at a high price. Obviously this is a rational commercial decision and there is nothing wrong with it. All the consumer has to do is decide whether they are prepared to pay such a high premium price just for a brand name.
The bargain priced Ovation VL682 which also rates much higher than many other expensive tyres is a unique quality and value proposition, be sure to fit them to your vehicle while stocks last!
